Gemstones for Aries, Celestial Lamb

Welcome Aries (March 21 – April 19), first sign of the zodiac! Aries is represented by the ram, a symbol of strength, courage, and leadership. You are known for your bold ambition, fierce energy, and confident leadership, often displaying a dynamic and gregarious heart in all aspects of life. You are brave, artistic, willful, productive, enterprising, and care about helping others. However, all that fiery energy may also translate into moodiness, impulsiveness, impatience, and being overly aggressive. As the first sign, Aries folks like to be first – you have a strong sense of self and individuality and you are always initiating, diving headfirst into the next adventure. You can also be competitive. Perhaps you struggle with counterproductive stubbornness or frustration, and it can be helpful to balance out your fiery driven nature with a softer energy. You may also find yourself getting burned out.

It’s important to remember to slow down sometimes, and understand when your risk-taking, directness, passion or drive may be counterproductive or wearing you and others down. Sink into your Venus energy once in a while and remember that leisure, beauty, and sensuality are just as important as speed, passion, and winning. Like the ram butting its head up against the wall, Aries too can get caught in frustrating cycles of negativity. Be like a lamb - relax, slow down, smell those flowers, frolic in that field, snuggle in that patch of clover! And remember that simply being can also be a kind of action. Fear not though, because not only are you in good company (Ironman, Billie Holiday, Leonardo Da Vinci, Christopher Walken… yeesh! Lucky you), we have some recommendations for stones that may amplify your best qualities and help balance you out.

  • Carnelian: This richly-hued stone has been used since antiquity. It is believed to be named after the red-orange Kornel cherry, and the use of carnelian dates back to the Bronze Age circa 1800 BC on the island of Crete. This gorgeous juicy-looking stone was believed by the Romans to be a stone of courage, supporting confidence and strength. In ancient Egypt, the stone was placed on mummies to assist the dead in their journey to the afterlife while architects to the pharaohs wore carnelian to denote rank and status. In the Middle Ages, carnelian was used by alchemists when boiling stone to release the energy of other gemstones. From ancient times, carnelian has been worn in cameos to ward off depression. It is also used to enhance confidence and creativity, and to increase physical energy. Carnelian is associated with the solar plexus chakra, where imbalances are thought to cause digestive problems, as well as lack of confidence.
  • Moonstone: Moonstone embodies the divine feminine energy of the moon, connecting us to life’s ebb and flow and helping us cultivate compassion and tap into our intuition, self-discovery, and insight. It provides passive & relaxing yin energy, supports introspection & receptivity, balances emotions, and connects us to our subconscious. According to ayurveda, moonstone calms the pitta dosha. It is also connected to the third eye, solar plexus, and crown chakras. Special affinity for Cancers, Libras, and Scorpios.
  • Kyanite: Kyanite is known as a powerful stone for meditation and attunement, aligning all chakras and the subtle body, as well as balancing yin and yang energies. It is used to dispel blockages and move energy throughout the body, supporting meditation and helping connect to one’s spiritual awareness. It is also used for its calming effect, cooling down anger, frustration, confusion and stress. From a geological perspective, kyanite only forms under very specific metamorphic conditions, which makes it an "index mineral" – it helps geologists estimate the depth, temperature and pressure of its surrounding matrix. Kyanite comes in many colors – black (grounding, aligning), blue (strengthens the voice), green (connects heart and third eye chakra, promotes insight), and orange (aura cleansing, creativity boosting). Natural kyanite is one of the few stones that is believed to not need energetic cleansing (the other is citrine) – instead of accumulating negative energy, it transmutes, dissipates, and grounds it.
  • Citrine: Citrine is often referred to as the “merchant stone”, for its sunny color resembles gold. It is associated with wealth and abundance, but also sunny joy and optimism. Citrine brings light and new beginnings, and is thought to be a powerful stone for manifestation, awakening creativity and motivation. Natural citrine is one of the few stones that is believed to not need energetic cleansing (the other is kyanite) – instead of accumulating negative energy, it transmutes, dissipates, and grounds it. This makes it an excellent stone for promoting mental health, balanced relationships, and releasing fear or anger. To ancient Romans, citrine was the stone of Mercury, the messenger god, and was used to improve communication and attract wealth. Citrine also balances the manipura (second), solar plexus (third), and crown (seventh) chakras to balance and open them, bringing inner strength, confidence, and intuition.
  • Clear quartz: This stone is a powerful amplifier and healer. It stimulates the immune system & metabolism, and acts as a shield against negative energy, bringing light and positivity to its wearer. Encouraging spiritual growth as it connects to all chakras, this amplifying stone sends out tenfold the energy you bring into it. Special affinity for Aries and Leos.

These stones can help enhance and harness your natural drive, provide emotional stability, or mellow you out so you can just chillax and smell those flowers.
