Custom pieces are one of my favorite ways to create jewelry. Working with clients one-on-one to create a piece *just* for them is so inspiring. I get to hear about what is happening in their life, and often about the challenges they have overcome or people in their life who mean so much to them. When someone comes to me for a custom piece, it is usually to commemorate a special event or milestone in their life, or to remind them of someone special, or to remind themself of something deeply important. Making a piece to commemorate this means it is filled with personalized intention and talismanic power.

The process for creating something custom (also known as “bespoke”, which sounds so much fancier) starts with a consultation, where we discuss what you are looking for, budget, and timeline. Then, we’ll look at existing pieces to feel out what size and shape the client wants. Or, we can sift through stones I have available. Or, perhaps the client brings me special stones they want made into a piece. Or, they will bring mean existing piece they’d like refreshed or modernized. I’ve seen it all!

We will discuss what they want out of the piece – perhaps it’s aligning to an intention (“I want to feel centered in my power”), an aesthetic (“I want a strong and soulful mala”), an occasion (“I want a dainty and feminine piece for my wedding”), or perhaps the client wants certain chakras activated or healing properties from the piece. We explore all of this, selecting the right stones and charms and lengths and thread. In the end, what the client walks away with is a lovely personal talismans, with the process of setting an intention behind it. The client has co-created it with me, working to design and create that piece with meaning, and is reminded of that intention when they wear it!
