Gorgeous polished abalone rondelles separated by hammered Ethiopian metal seed beads, and finished with a gold plated toggle clasp and a hand-wrapped abalone heist bead. This piece is named for Namaka, a sea goddess in Hawaiian lore. This powerful goddess can harness the power of the sea and tides to shape events. Abalone - a gift from the sea - is a gorgeous nacreous shell, and you can see the layers of nacre in these polished beads. A weathered brass artifact sits at the focal point, highlighting the natural and timeless feel of this wrap bracelet. Can also be worn as a necklace, and layers beautifully!
About Abalone
Abalone is a shell, made of nacre (same as pearls) by sea organisms secreting layer upon layers of the stuff over time. This beautiful “bio-crystal” has been used by humans for millennia – as jewelry, in rituals, and as currency. Abalone encapsulates the healing energy of the ocean, bringing a sense of peace and one-ness with nature, and transmuting negative energy into positive to uplift the mood and bring new perspective to situations. Wearing it can encourage healing (for yourself and your relationships), compassion, and improved communication.

The bespoke process starts with a consultation, where we will discuss what you are looking for, budget, and timeline. Typical production times are ~8 weeks, but we can rush if needed.

Mikken Designs always uses natural, unaltered gemstones, unless otherwise indicated.
Over time, the metal components may tarnish or fade. To keep them shining, please store your piece in a jewelry pouch or soft cloth, and avoid direct contact with water (shower, bath, hot tub, sweating) as well as beauty products such as perfume.
To clean, mix a few drops of gentle dish soap and water, and soak for about a minute. Use a soft cloth to gently rub it clean. Ensure you rinse & dry thoroughly.
To clean the mixed metal spacer beads, cover the beads in ketchup (yes!), let sit for a minute, then rinse thoroughly and wipe clean with a soft toothbrush or cloth. You can also clean with mild soap and water, but this may require more patience & a bit more scrubbing. Dry thoroughly.
